DCWV August Stack-a-holic Template Challenge

UpdateJust found out my card made it to the Top-10 this month at DCWV. Yay! You can see all the other Top-10 here: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2013/08/august-stack-holic-top-10s.html

Thanks so much for popping in today. Always so nice to hear from you all. My card today is for DCWV's August Card Sketch Challenge. I used The Home Spun Cardstock Stack for this card. I'm really excited about how the top purple panel turned out. To begin with, some of the cardstock in this stack has a scored texture. I embossed the pre-scored purple panel using Spellbinders M-bossabilities folder EL-009. Then I ran a pigment pad (ColorBox -boysenberry) across the top of the embossed panel. In person it looks just like hand-tooled leather!
Then, for the fun part. I gathered up a bunch of my punches and started punching and stacking. I used a Hero Arts stamp (CL342) for the sentiment.
I made a card last week with an offset top panel and got so many comments about it, I wanted to use that technique again. Don't you think it adds a lot interest to the card? I love the polka-dot buttons too (Studio G ).
Hope you get to do something fun today. Maybe you want to make a card too. There's still time to join in the fun at DCWV. Here's the link for all the details and below is a copy of the sketch we had to work with: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2013/08/august-stack-holic-template-challenge.html

CAS-ual Fridays' Red, White and Blue Challenge CFC102

Thanks so much for stopping by this weekend. Hope you are all getting a long weekend and spending time with family and friends.
In honor of Memorial Day, CAS-ual Fridays issued a challenge for a card using red, white & blue. Beginning with a white card-base (4.25x5.5), I trimmed 1/8" red and blue strips from cardstock. Then, I stamped 'Hello' in red and punched the petal shape using Fiskars extra large Petal by Petal punch. I also punched a petal in red and another in blue. As you can see, I glued them together with just a sliver of each color showing from behind the sentiment. I adhered the finished petal with foam tape and rounded the bottom corners of the card.
There is still plenty of time to play along with us. You can find all details here: http://cas-ualfridays.blogspot.com/2013/05/cfc102.html

An Ombre Challenge

Cath has some great challenges over in the Moxie Fab World this month. I created this card for the Ombre Challenge.
I made the ombre border using Fiskars' new pinwheel punch. The rebel in me is always looking to use my punches for purposes other than those for which they were intended. Using a variety of shades of purple cardstock, I overlapped and interlocked the flat pinwheels. Once I had them together, I ran the strip through my Xyron sticker maker and adhered them to my card.
The sentiment is from Fiskars Friends Forever Quotes collection. I used ColorBox's chalk in Wisteria which matched my lightest purple exactly.
I have another border to show you that I make with this same punch. I'll get that card up one day soon.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Thought Bubble Chipboard Card

Thanks for stopping back in. This is the last card for today. Well, I think it is. One never knows when inspiration will strike. I created this card for CAS-ual Fridays CFC94 Chipboard Challenge as well as the Thought Bubble Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.
I've been playing around with my new pinwheel punch from Fiskars. I punched several turquoise and purple pinwheels and overlapped and seated them together to make my border trim. I have another way I do this too that looks different, but you'll have to wait for the next challenge. I did not have a chipboard to fit this card so I made one by using some thin cardboard. I heat-embossed the thought-buble tag with the fun HI from Studio G.
There is still time to enter both challenges. Check out the details here:

Square Punch Challenge

Modern-Art Necklace Card
I made this card for the Square Punch Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

I started by making a 5.5" x 4.25" card base out of pink cardstock. I embossed two white panels with Spellbinders Impressabilites Flourish die. I adhered one to the front of the card. On the other panel, I randomly painted back and forth with three colors of Copic Markers. I used Peony-RV69, Tender Pink-RV13 and Marigold-V05. Then, I cut five 1.25" squares from the colored panel with my square punch. I rounded two corners on each square and laid them out like a necklace chain. For the pendant, I stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Joy Ride CL481 on a square of white cardstock with pink ink. I rounded three of the corners on that square and matted it on the fifth square (also rounded on three corners) of the painted, embossed panel. Lastly, I added graduated sizes of aroura borealis gems.
Have a good idea for your square punch? There is plenty of time for you to answer the challenge too. Check out this link for all the details. http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2012/10/paper-crafting-tips-tricks-week-square.html

Punches Challenge

Punches! Punches! Punches!

I love punches! They make cardmaking so much easier. I like using them in different ways than they were intended. In this card that I'm entering in the Punches Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, I used Fiskars' tree punch. As you can see in the squares (an EK Success punch) that run along the left side of the card, I used the same tree punch. It's not noticable right away but if you keep looking you will see them as a part of the same punch. I reversed the order of the layering of the teal and purple colors on the tree and the squares and offset them a smidge to create depth. This card was a lot of fun and super quick to create.

Pink Flower Card

Made this card for a challenge as a Fisk-a-teer. It did not win but I sure had fun making it.
The all-over background stamp is from Stampin' Up. I masked off the lower right corner and used the sentiment stamp from Rubber Stamped in the masked area.
The gorgeous papers in the design and in the flower are from the beautiful Madeline Collection from Prima Marketing. I used all sorts and sizes of flower punches to make the flower. And then, I added the diamonds! Can't have a great card without diamonds.
I did pick up a bit of a glare on the picture but you get a good idea I think of the card.

Best Wishes turquoise with white tile

Here is another of my favorite cards. It was lots of fun to make.

I used turquoise cardstock to make the card. I used a leaf stamp(Martha Stewart) and watermark ink (Versa Mark) for the background print on the card. Then, I cut white tiles from white cardstock and layered them on like bricks. I tried just cutting a white strip and making partial cuts in it but it did not look as good. It made the individual tiles hard to see so I cut individual tiles. Next, I used a squeeze punch (Fiskars) and punched flowers out of turquoise and white cardstock and blue vellum. I punched a 1/16th hole in the middle of each flower and layered them onto a gold heart brad.
